ARTIST STATEMENT
The Breast Care Centre is envisioned as a sanctuary of care, hope, and resilience, where design and function harmoniously converge
to support patients and their families through their healthcare journey. At the heart of this vision lies the centre’s logo, symbolized as a blooming flower—a powerful representation of growth, beauty, and vitality. Inspiration from Tasmanian flora such as the Dwarf Everlasting and the Silver Snow Daisy are closely linked to the centres logo. The link to our natural surrounds becomes the central narrative for the design, influencing form, texture, and colour throughout the space.
Our creative approach aims to establish a warm and nurturing space that is private and comfortable for both the clients and staff members of the clinic. Through the use of colour and illustration this work offers visually engaging experiences and serves as a distraction therapy with an uplifting wayfinding experience designed to minimize any stresses or anxieties associated with medical procedures, health and well being.
We have created a new look and feel for the Liverpool Street Clinic expanding on the illustration library from the Rosny Clinic originally created in 2024. We have developed two unique design aesthetics for each zone. The thinking here was to subtly delineate Breast Screening Tasmania from Diagnostic Breast Imaging, whilst maintaining an overall graphic language that unites both spaces under the one roof and maintains a visual connection to the satellite clinics at Rosny, Devonport and the new Mobile Screening Unit to be operating late 2026.
This approach enables us to design a space that has its own unique visual identity whilst at the same time being united by the underlying illustrations of the Tasmanian Native plants. The visual wayfinding utilises bespoke design processes to compliment the architectural and interior design finishes, giving rise to an integrated visual language throughout the space resulting in an environment that is sympathetic
to both clients and staff. Each layer of the design—from the welcoming public zones to the specific interiors—reflects the petals of a flower, unfolding to reveal spaces that support patients at every stage of care. This layered approach creates a journey that mirrors the natural progression of a flower blooming, symbolizing growth, healing, and transformation.

Mammography Rooms
Distraction therapy wall graphics have been created for the mammography rooms to assist the clients in a calmer experience during a difficult time
Staff Tea Room
As part of the PSCP Liverpool Street development the design team opened up the creative process to the building users. This exciting opportunity invited members of staff to participate in the design process by creating a library of drawings that have been used to create a large scale wall piece for the staff room. This place-making initiative aims to engage and connect staff members with their workplace through a participatory process that is grounded in the idea of community, collaboration and co-operation. From a workshop conducted in July 2025 staff members created a collection of drawings that have been used by the design team to compose a major wall feature as an integrated architectural feature.
Expanding on the collection, these drawings were also incorporated into the glazing within the staff offices.
